    That provoked a laughing spell!
    Hi Dimi!

Acknowledging your cultural correctness by the Cowboy lingo greeting I received should I begin by saying G'Day Mate!

I am not truly certain why I found such immense amusement in your own reference to Joey as being mine of 'Joe Doe' but I must have laughed for a good few minutes. That was so funny to me to see somebody else print that.

I managed to wander into the thread where it was mentioned by some that they would be amongst the many for the California performances. I did say 'hello' (I may live in the former Wild West, but I myself am no Cowgirl so no Yippie Ki Yea's from me) to the others there. Thank you for the suggestion.

I think that is most excellent that you have been a 'fan' for approximately the same amount of time as I and incidentally we are the same age. That alleviates my fear of being too old to be writing odd little messages within the forum of a "rock band".

At the moment I am without further questions so perhaps this ought to be kept short. However, I thank you for the response and the advice and I shall certainly return here in the very near future.

Be well and I look forward to writng again. Bye![SM=x237816]

    Hey Samaria!
    Howdy pardner!!

Thanks for sharing a bit of your EUROPE story with us... I never tire of reading of the impact these men and their music have on the fans lives!

In answer to your question, I live in Perth - capital city of Western Australia. Im 32 and married now, but when I first heard EUROPE I was just a 14 year old boy living in Auckland, New Zealand, tens-of-thousands of miles away from all these exciting continental happenings! EUROPE were taking the world by storm, and it seemed NZ was the LAST place on the earth to be touched by their magic. So what did we do - we 'upped' and moved to Australia!
Their music dominated my world then, and has done so ever since!

Im sure you will have THE BEST time at the shows in the states!! Anyone who has seen them live on their recent tours will attest to the fact that good ole Joe Doe and friends are back in business and rock harder than ever before!!
Why dont you post a message in the ANNOUNCEMENTS forum titled something like "ROLL CALL - HOUSE OF BLUES" and see if there are other fans on here who would like to meet up with you for the big night! We are a GREAT bunch of people here - always welcoming to new friends and fans. In fact many have been in these online EUROPE communities since they broke up in the early 90s! Its truly a big happy family here!

I have gotta run to work now - but from Sunny 'down Under" I wish you and yours a safe and happy day (pardner!) [SM=x237804]

    Cheers,
    Dimi

    Hello There Guys!
    Hi Dimi & Enrique,

Thank you for posting a reply to my inquiry. I felt a little weird writing here yesterday, but I was relieved when your reponses were pleasant and welcoming. Thanks!

To answer your question Dimi, I am in the States, in the heart of obscurity. Translated that means I live in Wyoming near the border of Montana. It's definitely a place predominantly inhabited by Cowboys! YeeHaw!

I am grateful for the insight about these guys in the Band. I would certainly prefer to not irritate anybody by wanting a photograph and asking for it. Being tolerated or outright dismissed never makes anyone feel very comfortable.

I had a serious relationship with a musician and when he was on tour he said the most awful things about the 'fans' that wanted to meet him. I felt terrible for them as they only wanted to express their admiration and appreciation of him. I'm pleased that this group sounds more amicable.

Enrique, I am also planning on attending the show in California. Not in San Diego, but either the House of Blues in Anaheim or the other in Hollywood. Who knows, maybe I'll feel inspired and attend both!

I telephoned my mother to inform her that I was finally going to see the one band I always wanted to but hadn't had the opportunity to ever see. She immediately asked if it was "Joe Doe's" band. He was referred to as such because when I initially saw a poster of him it was simply signed "Joey".

I had never seen a human being who looked as he did. I was a repressed 13 year old Mormon girl and he was the epitome of everything my parents hoped I'd never want anything to do with. But I was overwhelmingly intrigued by that man.

So, he became Joe Doe around my family's home and the band was utilized extensively as leverage. No listening to your tapes until homework is done. No watching Nickelodeon until you've finished your chores. You argue with your brother's or sister's I'm going to take down some of your posters. That kind of thing. It is amusing now, but heavily effective back then!

My mom laughed and said she was always entertained by my over zealous preoccupation with the comings and goings of the band Europe. But she hoped I had a fantastic time, and I was to mail her a picture.

And on that note I am delighted to have it suggested that they are pleasant and accessible. Thank you for letting me know.

Incidentally, what region of Australia do you reside in Dimi?

Again, I thank you for the kind salutations and I shall check for your posts soon. Be well and have a lovely day!

    Hi Samaria
Great to have you here - youre so very welcome!

I dont think there are too many people on this board that ARENT in their late twenties and early thirties! With the exception of course of a new generation of Europe fans that is! [SM=x237824]

Im Dimitri (Dimi), coordinator of the Australian fanclub. Where do you live??

In answer to your question - the EUROPE guys i have met once, but recieve emails from fans and enthusiasts on a daily basis outlining how down to earth and welcoming the boys are.
My first hand experience reinforces this.
The guys I imagine would not mind if you approached them for a quick hello, photo and autograph. After most shows they do like to stop and greet their fans.

If you want to see a few pics from when i met the guys - please visit this link:

Click on DIARY ARCHIVES and then SCANDINAVIA 30/06.

You can also see an extensive report in the ON THE ROAD section of my website:

I hope you enjoy them - and please post here often!
    Rock on!

    Hi,

I am 29 and will see Europe for the first time in a couple of weeks in San Diego. I have been a fan since The Final Countdown years during which I went back through their catalog only to get amazed by their ability to combine hard rock and melody.

Wings Of Tomorrow has been on permanent rotation on my CD player (well, cassette player at first) since '87. The new songs have a modern feel to them, but at the same time they feel as if nothing has changed. In summary, seeing them live will be one of my teenage dreams come true (LOL).

To have your question answered, I suggest you check out the thread titled "How Nice Is Europe" on this same forum.

    Hello Everyone.
I'm new to this forum but certainly not new to being in admiration of this group. I feel a little strange posting here seeing as I'm a 32 year old mother of three boys, but inside I'm still just a kid! And a kid who remembers this music very well!

I can't believe that this band is still together and better yet still performing. I think that is exceptional, as my adolescence would not have been nearly as exciting without the influence these people had on the direction in which I led my life. I would love to express my appreciation for the many ways they've no concept whatsoever that they enriched my world. Thanks guys!

I actually do have a question and it would appear that this is the proper forum for which to pose it. Is there anybody out there who has ever encountered them at a performance, and if so were they the kind of people that would not become irritated if their 'fans' were to approach them to request having a photo taken?

I know that many musicians are very private and prefer not to be bothered. I would obviously respect that if it happened to be the situation, but I would be delighted if it were otherwise. Is there anybody who could or would be willing to respond to my inquiry?

I've discovered that they will be performing twice in the Los Angeles area this month and I would happily drive the vast distance to see them. It would be an experience wonderfully enhanced if I found myself fortunate enough to return to my ordinary life with a treasured picture.

I don't want to convey any untoward impression by my asking this, but as I imagine many of you could identify, the inspiration I derived from this music/musicians had an incredibly powerful impact on my overall perspective of life. I know that had their presence (not literal of course) been absent I would not have believed it possible to achieve and fulfill my dreams. I feel an immense gratitude towards them because of this.

Perhaps I sound like a geek, but I remain thankful regardless. And having a picture would really mean a great deal to me. So that is why I ask about their dispositions out on the road. Can anyone enlighten me about this?

Thank you in advance. Nice to be here![SM=x237816]
